Desert Equations/Azax Attra will be RERELEASED on Vinyl!

Pleased to announce the RERELEASE of our album Desert Equations/Azax Attra on Crammed discs in 2021!

DESERT EQUATIONS is one my most favorite meditative ambient pieces composed by Richard Horowitz​ in 1983.

It came out on our first album Desert Equations/Azax Attra. It was recorded nocturnally in Noise New York, a great studio in NYC, owned by our good friend Frank Eaton​ who generously gave us his studio keys to record an album together. The album came out on the great Belgium based label Crammed Discs​.

Richard had just arrived in NY from his 10 year journey outside the US, 8 of which were spent in Morocco, living and studying Moroccan trance music and culture from sub-saharan Africa. This was and still is my favorite musical era in NY.

Rapture, Sussan Deyhim's score for Shirin Neshat's video installations

This beautiful double album release is an elaborate 8 panel 2 CD package of my scores and sound design for acclaimed Iranian filmmaker & visual artist icon Shirin Neshat, in the largest retrospective to date at The Broad Museum and of Shirin's works.
The package includes breathtaking images from each installation I have worked on including "Turbulent" the winner of The Golden Lion at The Venice Biennial, in which I also performed. The package will also include an album of my sound track for a Shirin and brilliant team's large scale stage production of #Logic of the Birds. The music is composed in collaboration with Richard Horowitz and inspired by the Persian mystic poet Attar's Conference of The Birds. It was an honor to star in this production as Simorgh.

New Recording Release "Songs From UR"

One of my special projects that got postponed during Covid 19, has been a collaboration with German composer Torsten Rasch on his opera "The Other Wife". ( https://www.semperoper.de/.../stid/andere-frau-en/61446.html)

A commission from Semperoper Dresden which will hopefully be presented in the early 2022 at this point. Fortunately Villa Massimo, the German Academy in Rome, commissioned Torsten and I to produce an album of music inspired by the opera and some new pieces we have been co-composing. Incorporating a beautiful compilation of classical, experimental, new music and electronic music influences. I personally miss hearing such a hybrid these days.
